Crisis Communications Training Course
Crisis communications is one of those things organisations rarely think about until they need it — and by then, it's too late to plan. This short course covers the essentials: what good crisis communication looks like, how to structure your messaging under pressure, and how to handle media and public-facing communications when a situation is developing quickly.
It's aligned with ISO 22361, the international standard for crisis management, and draws on ISO 22301's requirements around warning and communication. But you don't need to know either standard to get value from it — the course is written in plain English and focuses on practical application rather than theory.
Who is it for?
This course is aimed at people who might find themselves involved in communicating during a crisis — whether that's members of a crisis or incident management team, communications professionals supporting a response, or business continuity practitioners who want to understand the communications dimension of what they're planning for. If you've already taken our Introduction to Crisis Management course, this sits naturally alongside it.
What you'll cover
The course looks at how to identify and deliver key messages when facts are still emerging, how to structure a communications plan from strategy through to execution, and how to approach media relations and public messaging in a way that maintains trust rather than eroding it.
So what do I get from this?
- Understand how to structure and deliver clear messages when a situation is still developing
- Learn the principles of crisis communications as set out in ISO 22361
- Practical awareness training for crisis team members, communications professionals, and business continuity practitioners
Format
Three short video modules, each followed by a knowledge check quiz. The whole course takes around 20 minutes to complete. A certificate of completion is available on successful completion, which can be used to support CPD records or compliance documentation.
